Nikki Phan is an Anthropology major and East Asian studies minor from Cupertino, California. During her time at SMC, she has worked at the Intercultural Center as a student leader initiating Diversity Education in her sophomore year, and as the graphic designer in her senior year. She has also completed internships with the Anthropology Department and Worthwhile Research & Consulting.

Favorite Saint Mary's Memory

My favorite memory from Saint Mary’s is the Jan Term travel courses I was able to take in Brazil and Puerto Rico. These courses introduced me to new fields of study and presented opportunities for further growth.

Favorite Saint Mary's Memory

My favorite Saint Mary's memory is of the Initiation Ceremony that took place on campus ( April 18, 2021)).On this special day, I became a Confirmed Catholic and shared in the joy and honor with other Initiates from RCIA at Saint Mary's. Thank you Fr. Michael Olawuni , Fr Hai Ho, and Juliana Caruso of SMC Mission Ministry !

My Next Chapter

This summer, I am off to Anthropology Field School on the Island of Malta, where I will participate in an ethnographic research project. I am also looking into field schools for archaeology and I plan to continue my education as I pursue graduate studies in Evolutionary Anthropology.
